Neighborhood
Stay in a Piece of Lubbock History House of Cacti is tucked into South Overton, one of Lubbock's oldest and most storied neighborhoods. Established in 1907—before Lubbock was officially incorporated—the neighborhood grew alongside the city and, later, Texas Tech University. Today, South Overton is a rare pocket of Old Lubbock charm in the heart of Raiderland. Historic cottages and Craftsman bungalows line tree-filled streets, remnants of original brick paving recall another era, and nearly a century of West Texas history can be found from one block to the next. The neighborhood's distinctive architecture and history earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. House of Cacti gives you the best of both worlds: the character of a 1929 Lubbock cottage and the energy of Texas Tech just blocks away. On game weekends, you can feel Raiderland come alive. On quieter mornings, South Overton feels like Old Lubbock—front porches, mature trees, vintage homes and streets that have been part of the city for generations. It's not a generic vacation rental neighborhood. It's part of the Lubbock story.
